Good day, NVU Class of 2020!

I am Provost Nolan Atkins and I am so pleased to celebrate with you in recognition of this milestone in your life. Today, we are recognizing the completion of associates, bachelors, master’s degrees, and certificates. Graduates of our Johnson and Lyndon Campuses, NVU Online, College Steps, and masters programs, each of you has put in an incredible amount of work to reach this point in your life. You are to be congratulated.

As we all know, the semester leading up to this celebration has been unusual and at times difficult and scary. I believe the grit and skills you’ve shown will serve you as go out there into the workforce.

I also know that as you move forward in your careers, the mix of liberal arts and real world skills that you’ve learned at NVU will equip you in your professional lives. You are critical thinkers. You are communicators. You are ready for your future.

Your extra-curricular activities have complemented your academic learning. You’ve gained incredible experiences through athletics, travel, SERVE, alternative breaks, MEISA, outing club, The Climate Consensus, and more.

In closing, I want to remind you to stay in touch with NVU. NVU faculty and staff are here to support you. Stay in touch with your mentors. And, remember that you are our NVU ambassadors. We need you more than ever.
